{"id":8344,"date":"2022-06-01T09:28:34","date_gmt":"2022-06-01T08:28:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trustedcoachdirectory.com\/?p=8344"},"modified":"2022-06-13T14:25:04","modified_gmt":"2022-06-13T13:25:04","slug":"the-power-of-re-framing-perspectives-about-beliefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trustedcoachdirectory.com\/the-power-of-re-framing-perspectives-about-beliefs\/","title":{"rendered":"The power of re-framing perspectives about beliefs!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the many artful skills of being a coach is supporting our client\u2019s to shift their disempowering perspectives into more empowering ones!\u00a0\u00a0There are always so many and varied ways of re-framing perspectives: different stories, beliefs and experiences we can choose to focus on and take on and embody into our system &#8211; our mind, body, heart and soul. Importantly, <strong>as a coach, we can support our clients to re-frame unsupportive beliefs so they can choose empowering beliefs, make energising\u00a0decisions and put positive action &#8211; or non-action &#8211; into place.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Re-framing perspectives is a skill which enables the process of change to take place. <\/em>For example, new coaches may hold the belief \u2018I can\u2019t start my coaching until I get my coaching certificate \u2019. Choosing to believe this is most likely going to be disempowering and de-energising and will stop the decision to move forward. However, if reframed to \u2018I\u2019m trained so I can start coaching immediately\u2019, or \u2018my certificate is on the way, so I can start using everything I\u2019ve learnt to coach now\u2019 &#8211; can have an immediate positive impact on our mind, body, and energy. And it ultimately supports the actions we decide to take.<\/p>\n<p>You can test this concept out by talking about and focusing on a positive belief right now and notice the changes that happen in your outlook, energy and physiology as you do.<\/p>\n<p>The type of language we use to speak, both to ourselves and to others, plays an important and powerful role in programming our body and mind to notice other perspectives and the many possibilities surrounding us.\u00a0<strong>If we \u00a0ask ourselves different, challenging and opening up types of questions, we can create different better outcomes.<\/strong>\u00a0Questions like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is that perspective supporting me, and if not, what perspective have I not noticed yet that will support me?<\/li>\n<li>What is the positive intention behind this situation for me?<\/li>\n<li>What am I meant to be learning here which will support me?<\/li>\n<li>How else can I see\/hear\/feel this experience?<\/li>\n<li>What is it I have chosen to miss?<\/li>\n<li>What\u2019s not true about this belief?<\/li>\n<li>If you could believe something else empowering, what would it be\u2019?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ci5.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/EC8qySZpZp68mD3eD8MgNvxr-vBdJQz-QGMiBZMnEXReoTdES7Ism8gmL0uUQtyTaPBPUJcksCKHDoJn5aEEJzbRwJJcnxAGxSuCeNHFO4pdgmQ-uDZjqPFmSaquPJzFAnqArGtSIkdjkV-BLHOm60apDzXyvw=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/61a3e6a9a397b54279276d2c8\/images\/1a5aab9b-ac8f-4e57-9d22-6101c894d4a8.jpg\" alt=\"re-framing perspectives\" width=\"250\" height=\"166\" \/><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Supporting your clients to tap into their resourcefulness is the key to identifying new powerful re-framing of perspectives.<\/em> Author Dr John Demartini says, \u2018there are two sides to everything\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0People often become addicted to just one side of their story, which can create the same results and experiences, which has a negative impact.\u00a0 <strong>As a coach, you can support the client to challenge these addictions or habits of possibly limiting beliefs and assist them to reframe their language enabling new empowering\u00a0perspectives by asking thought provoking questions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And if you have strong trust and rapport with a client, you could be even more provocative by agreeing with their statement, such as, \u2018Well, of course you CAN\u2019T!\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0<u>By being provocative, you can potentially create that spark, where the client see\u2019s the challenge to reframe what they have shared, and that they can\u00a0actually do what they say they can&#8217;t.\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Practice using the skills of deep listening and powerful questioning to support your client when re-framing perspectives and find new ways of finding different perspectives, ways of speaking and ways of being in the world.
